“I believe that political scientists have a responsibility to publicly engage in policy debates, disseminate research findings that address contemporary political problems, and prepare their students for lives of engaged citizenship.”

I seek opportunities to engage practitioners, increase my policy impact through professional networks, and communicate research findings to the public. I am a member of the Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS) which unites scholars and practitioners active in the work of the UN to better understand and address the most pressing global issues we face. I am a member of the Truman National Security Project which brings together veterans, frontline civilians, scholars and political partners to rethink national security in pursuit of a more just US national security policy. I serve on the Executive Committee of the Human Rights section of the American Political Science Association and previously served in that position for the International Studies Association. I am a member of the Human Rights Educators USA network and the University and College Consortium of Human Rights Education.
